SHUTTLE STOP MOVES FROM MELLEN TO MASSACHUSETTS AVENUEBeginning February 3, the Lesley shuttle van to Porter Exchange will no longer stop on Mellen Street. Instead, the shuttle will stop in the front of 1627 Massachusetts Avenue. The hours and days of operation of the shuttle will remain the same.
This alternate route, taking the shuttle off Mellen Street, is in response to residents of Mellen Street, who have argued that the presence of the shuttle on their street has had a negative impact on their quality of life. Although Lesley has made several efforts to mitigate this impact, the college have been unsuccessful in gaining a consensus from Mellen Street neighbors. This new routing of the shuttle is for a three month trial period. The matter will then be reassessed by the neighborhood and the city in May.
"The Lesley community's patience and understanding during periods of change is most appreciated," says David Erlandson, director of operations. "I would urge the community to continue to use the shuttle. It provides a crucial link between Porter Exchange and the main campus. Every effort will be made during this time to provide as efficient shuttle service as possible." Temporary provisions will be made to accommodate the shuttle enclosure, which will be relocated to the front lawn of 1627 Massachusetts Avenue.
