President McKenna's opening address, for faculty and staff, 4 p.m. in Welch Auditorium. A barbecue in the Lesley Commons/Ampitheater will immediately follow; families are welcome.

5. Thursday

Mellen Street Carnival, games, prizes, food and music. Open to everyone. 5-8 p.m. (rain date 9/6). Contact Student Affairs, x8530.

7. Saturday

Orientation for the Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences, School of Education, School of Management and the Adult Baccalaureate College. Contact Student Affairs, x8530.

27. Friday

Women's College Senior Investiture Ceremony, marking a long-standing tradition at Lesley of officially welcoming senior students into their final year of undergraduate study. 7 p.m., at the First Church in Cambridge, Congregational, 11 Garden Street.
