MANJU BANERJEE IS NEW COORDINATOR OF DISABILITIES SERVICES

Lesley's new coordinator of disabilities services, Manju Banerjee, is committed to the premise that all qualified students with a disability should have the same opportunity and access to programs and campus facilities as those available to their non-disabled peers. "Academic excellence is the common goal," Banerjee states, "and inclusion, independence and attitude can make a positive difference." In her new role, Banerjee intends to promote the spirit of "mainstreaming" for students with disabilities, by providing enabling accommodations that do not lower academic standards but rather offer an equal playing field. Disabilities services is available for students, faculty and staff through the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs. Banerjee will act as a resource, a referral site and an information guide on issues relating to disabilities for the entire Lesley community. She also will work closely with other offices and programs to identify areas of need and future development. Members of the Lesley community with visual, auditory, and mobility impairments, as well as other physical, cognitive, psychological or environmental challenges can now go directly to Banerjee for information on accessing support services, such as note-takers, interpreters, readers, taped material, test accommodations, adaptive equipment and other technological aids.
