EVHS News:

ESPANOLA The Española Valley Humane Society has hired Karl Ferguson as its deputy director.

Ferguson will work in partnership with the Board of Directors to provide strategic direction and oversight to the organization; achieve the fiscal health and strategic goals and objectives for the organization through the overall administration of all operations; and serve as primary external representative of the organization with the community, media, funding entities, donors and other partners.

“Karl has exceptional experience in fundraising and operations. He most recently worked with the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation, where he held a variety of positions over the past 12 years, including COO/CFO,” Executive Director Bridget Lindquist said, adding that while at SVHF, he secured the largest donation in the hospital’s history.

“The Española Valley Humane Society is fortunate to have found someone with proven abilities in fund development, special events planning and oversight, coupled with demonstrated strengths in leadership,” Lindquist said. “He also understands the mission of the EVHS, as he and his wife, Amber, share their home with two rescue pups; a miniature dachshund named Bodhi who was rescued from a puppy mill, and Maxy, a recently rescued Carolina Dog who was abandoned in a Texas shelter, covered with mange and heart-worm positive. Maxy is thriving in his new home.”

Ferguson holds a Master of Arts in Intercultural Relations from Lesley College, Cambridge, Mass., and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Babson College, Wellesley, Mass. He has 24 years experience in fundraising for domestic and international health care (and other humanitarian causes).
