The Music minor provides you with a historical, theoretical and practical background in music and music performance.
For you music is a powerful tool. It speaks to you, guides you, and influences your thoughts and emotions. You're eager to infuse music into your studies and to pursue your passion.
The music minor allows you to develop your skills at performance (with an emphasis on voice and piano) and to better understand music as an expressive art form as it has developed over time in different traditions. Following a required core course in Introduction to Form in Classical Music, you can apply your creativity to a variety of genres, including Folk, Musical Theatre, and Children's Music.
Review the requirements to earn a Minor in Music.
This course includes preparation of significant and representative choral works. Music fundamentals (theory) are included in the course.
Characteristic music of various cultures is presented. Selections include examples from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
