ITA Alumna Receives Award

Gilles, KimberleyKimberley Gilles, a Lesley alumna and current educator in California, was recently awarded the Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence, and traveled to Washington, D.C., in February, for the National Education Association awards gala--where she received the top NEA award. Gilles is a graduate of the MEd in Curriculum and Instruction: Integrated Teaching Through the Arts program. She was also a 2012 recipient of the California Teachers Association Members Human Rights Award. Notifying the school of her award, she ended her message with: "Thank you, Lesley!"  Read more...

Arts Integration Research Study

Research Report on Arts in EducationLesley University conducted a study to research the effectiveness of arts in education. Funded by the Ford Foundation, it explored the impact of the Integrated Teaching through the Arts Master's program, which has more than 10,000 graduates. Graduates report that using the arts can provide multiple points of access to curriculum and increase retention and depth of student learning. Read Voices From the Field [PDF].
