Enhance and Enliven Learning with the Arts
Learn to develop effective
teaching strategies to meet the challenges of today’s educational
climate. Address the needs of all learners by integrating arts into the curriculum, allowing students to demonstrate and construct understanding of academic content through art. Examine theories and practices of arts integration, critical pedagogy, assessment, technology, multicultural education, art and culture in community, and arts disciplines, including music, visual art, poetry, storytelling, drama, and creative movement.
Key program information:
- The program consists of 33 credits of core education courses and integrated arts courses
- Program prerequisite: Massachusetts Initial license in Early Childhood or Elementary Education
- Program leads to Professional licensure at either the PreK-2 or 1-6 level
- Program is aligned to National Board of Professional Teacher Standards (NBPTS), state, and Common Core standards
- Classes held at Lesley’s Cambridge, MA, campus in a combination of weekly and intensive weekend formats

SAMPLE PROGRAM COURSE
EARTS 6008 Arts and Technology
This course will engage students in arts-based technology, using a variety of software programs. Students will gain an understanding of technology and its many applications across the disciplines and in the world around them. Working collaboratively and/or independently, students will use technology in a caring, stimulating, safe, and creative learning environment.
