Media Scheduling and Circulation

Video / Classroom Equipment / Circulating Equipment / Media Center Facilities

Video Collection

Over 1500 DVDs and video tapes are available for loan to current Lesley students, faculty and staff. Videos circulate for a 48-hour loan period. Faculty teaching off-campus may request an extension of up to one week.

All videos are catalogued in the Library's online system, FLO. Users may also search for videos and DVD titles in the Lesley University Library Collection may also searched via the online video catalog. In addition, a printed catalog (click here for .pdf (over 200 pages) with annotated alphabetical title listings and a subject index (click here for .pdf) are available for browsing at the Media Center Circulation Desk.

Reservations are accepted at the Media Center Circulation Desk (617-349-8860). Users may pick up videos Media Center Circulation Desk, and may return them either at the Media Center Circulation Desk or at the Library's Porter drop box located on the 3rd floor of the Porter Exchange building.

A growing number of Lesley videos are available online, accessible from myLesley. [myLesley, TAB:myLibrary/MediaServices/Online Video]. In addition, several Lesley titles and many other educational videos are avaliable from public websites: http://research.lesley.edu/Media .

Finding Videotapes from Other Sources

The Media Center offers assistance in locating other, outside sources for video rental or loan for those who do not have access to the main campus, for those needing videotapes longer than one week, or for those who would like to use videotapes that are not in the Library's collection. These sources include local libraries, websites, distributors with rental services, and large university film/video rental centers. Patrons make their own arrangements for rental, delivery and return. Faculty members may coordinate this with their departments. The Media Resources Guide includes links to rental and on-line resources.

Classroom Equipment

University Technology (617-349-8870) is responsible for all classroom equipment. Most classrooms are equipped with overhead projection, data projection and video playback. Reservations for additional equipment can be made online: http://www.lesley.edu/ut/equipmentreserve.html

Circulating Equipment

Current Lesley students, faculty and staff can reserve circulating equipment at the Media Center Circulation Desk (617-349-8860). The loan period is 48 hours for:

  • Digital camcorders
  • Digital audio recorders
  • Microphones/ shotgun/ lavalier/ wired/ wireless
  • DVD and video tape players
  • Slide projectors
  • Digital still cameras
  • Audio tape recorders

Media Center Facilities

Most editing, preview/duplication and transfer stations are available on a walk-in basis. Current Lesley students, faculty and staff can reserve circulating equipment at the Media Center Circulation Desk (617-349-8860).

The Studio is equipped with:

  • Video recording equipment
  • Video playback equipment
  • Computer presentation (Mac G5)
  • Digital video editing : iMovie/ Final Cut / MovieMaker/ Adobe Premiere
  • Photo scanner
  • Photo editing: Photoshop Elements 6
  • Analog and digital video conversion station: file formats/ international standards
