Kresge Teaching Resources Collections
The Teaching Resources collection consists primarily of K-9 instructional materials, including activity guides, textbooks, children's periodicals, media and other support materials which are intended for use in teaching and other professional placements.
Materials that are classroom specific, contain a variety of worksheets and activities, or are intended for use by students in their placements, are housed in the Teaching Resources Collection. Print materials that are directed entirely to the teacher, such as curriculum guides or unit lesson plans, are usually found in the Ludcke Library's Main collections.
Reference supports for this collection include of directories, encyclopedias, project indexes, media guides, Books In Print for textbooks and children's literature, and source books for curriculum materials.
Access To The Teaching Resources Collection
- Faculty, Staff, and Current Lesley Students
Current students, faculty and staff may borrow materials for a period of 28 days.
- Holders of Alumni Cards or Fenway Library Consortium Cards
These users may borrow up to 5 teaching resources, 5 textbooks, and 5 CD's for a period of 28 days.
- Off-Campus Faculty and Students
These users may borrow materials for up to 28 days. Materials cannot be mailed to individuals, however, interlibrary loan may be possible through some local libraries for those who do not have access to the main campus. Interlibrary loan of these materials is considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Teaching
Resources Librarian, is responsible for this collection.
The Kresge Center houses a large collection of children's and young adult literature. This collection includes fiction, informational books, short stories, poetry, stories in rhyme, and traditional literature.
The collections support course work in children's literature and provide examples
of quality literature for a literature-based curriculum. Circulating works about
children's and young adult literature are available in the main library collection.
Reference supports for this collection include autobiographical and biographical dictionaries for author studies, bibliographies, information on awards and prizes, sources for bibliotherapy, catalogs and selection aids, indexes, readability tools, and history and criticism references.
Online reference tools that support research in children's literature include Contemporary Authors and the Database of Award Winning Children's Literature. These databases are accessible from both on- and off-campus for current students and faculty.

Current students, faculty and staff may borrow materials for a period of 28 days.

The Teaching Resources Librarian, is responsible for this collection.
The Kresge Center's Test collection is a closed reserve, non-circulating collection of educational and psychological assessment tools. This collection is available only to members of the Lesley University Community. The purpose of the collection is to provide qualified persons with examples of standardized tests and other assessment tools for examination and study.
Qualified persons are Lesley University faculty members whose teaching or research require the use of these materials, or Lesley University students who are working under the supervision of a Lesley faculty member.
Information about the development and use of a particular test will be found in the main library collections.
Reference supports for this collection include works that provide critiques and descriptions of assessments instruments in the fields of education, management, counseling and psychology. Resources include dictionaries, handbooks, yearbooks, bibliographies, and indexes to test reviews, as well as a collection of publisher's catalogs.
Tests do not circulate; they are available to qualified Lesley students for review in the library only. Alumni working under the supervision of a Lesley University faculty member may be granted access to specific titles. Lesley faculty members may borrow tests, for class demonstration over a four hour period.
Access To The Test Collection
- Current Lesley Students
Tests do not circulate. Qualified Lesley University students, enrolled in assessment classes or under the supervision of a member of the Lesley University faculty, may review tests in the Kresge Center only.
- Faculty
Faculty members may borrow a test for a four-hour period for classroom demonstration.
- Holders of Alumni Cards
Alumni may be granted limited access to specific titles when working under the supervision of a Lesley University faculty member.
- Members of Fenway Library Consortium
These users do not have access to the test collection.

The Teaching Resources Librarian, is responsible for this collection.
The Media Resources Collection includes the Videotape Collection,
and a small collection of audio tapes, audio CD's and other media formats that
comprise the Additional Media Resources Collection.
The Kresge Center has a selective collection of approximately 2,000 educational
video titles
that are available to support and enhance teaching at Lesley University and
to support students in their field placements. These programs are intended
for educational use and circulate to Lesley University faculty, students, and
staff. The collection includes both DVD and VHS titles.
The video collection holdings can be searched via the FLO
Catalog, along with the rest of the library's holdings. There is also a searchable online version of the Kresge
Center Video Catalog. From there,
you have the option of searching the full catalog or choosing "Mediagraphies" where
you can download a PDF file of the entire catalog, the subject index or just
the newest titles.

Videotapes may be reserved (617-349-8860) and borrowed by current Lesley University
students, faculty and staff for a loan period of 48 hours. Faculty may request
an extension of up to one week for off-campus classes. Videotapes must be picked
up and dropped off at the Kresge Center circulation desk. They may be returned
either at the Kresge Center circulaiton desk or dropped off at the Library's
Porter drop box located on the 3rd floor of the Porter Exchange building.
The Kresge Center offers assistance in locating other, outside sources for video rental, loan or on-line access for those who do not have access to the main campus, for those needing videotapes longer than one week, or for those who would like to use videotapes that are not in the Library's collection. These include local libraries, distributors with rental services, and large university film/video rental centers. Patrons make their own arrangements for rental, delivery and return. Faculty members may coordinate this with their departments. The Media Resources Guide has references to other sources.

Videotapes may be reserved (617-349-8860) and borrowed by Lesley University faculty, staff, and current students with a valid Lesley ID for a loan period of 48 hours. All videotapes must be picked up and returned to the Kresge Center circulation desk in person. Those who do not have access to the main campus may request reference assistance in locating videotapes from other sources.
- Holders of Alumni Cards or Fenway Library Consortium Cards
These users may view videotapes in the Kresge Center or request assistance in locating videotapes from other sources.
- Off-Campus Faculty
Faculty teaching off-campus may reserve videos and have the 48 hour loan period extended for up to one week. All videotapes must be picked up and dropped off at the Kresge Center circulation desk in person. Faculty who do not have access to the main campus may request reference assistance in locating videotapes from other sources.
The Kresge Center has a small collection of audio CD's, audio tapes and multi-format
kits. All audio tapes are spoken word recordings. CD's include both music (mostly
classical) and sound effects. Kits contain mostly print materials and include
either supplemental audio tapes or videotapes.
Access to the Additional Media Resources Collection:
- Faculty, Staff, and Current Lesley Students
Current students, faculty and staff may borrow materials for a period of 28 days.
- Holders of Alumni Cards or Fenway Library Consortium Cards
These users may borrow up to five items from this collection for a period of 28 days.
- Off-Campus Faculty and Students
These users may borrow materials for up to 28 days. Materials cannot be mailed to individuals, however, interlibrary loan may be possible through some local libraries for those who do not have access to the main campus. Interlibrary loan of these materials is considered on a case-by-case basis.

Reference resources for the Media Resources collection include descriptions and purchase/rental information for commercially available films, videotapes, DVDs, CD's, and other media. These resources also include subject specific mediagraphies and references to other sources.
Copyright Issues
Copyright and duplication guidelines for media materials differ from those
for print materials. The Kresge Center follows Public Performance and Fair-Use
Copyright Guidelines for all its collections. Borrowers are asked to respect
and follow copyright guidelines.

Media Resources Specialist, is responsible for the Media Resources collection.
Every media format in the Kresge Center's collections is supported by preview
and circulating equipment. Preview carrels support viewing and playback of video, slides,
video, audio tapes, LPs, CDs, Macintosh computer software, and Internet access.
Equipment circulates to students, faculty and staff includes digital camcorders, digital audio recorders, slide projectors, CD and DVD players, overhead projectors, video projectors, and other special equipment.
Equipment for classes is available from University Technology (617-349-8770) and can be reserved with this on-line form.
Non-circulating equipment supports the production of video, graphics, and multimedia
presentations.
Satellite and cable reception is supported by the Center and routed throughout the Main Campus.
Access to the Equipment Collection

Equipment may be reserved (617-349-8860) and borrowed by Lesley University faculty, staff, and students with a valid Lesley ID for a loan period of 48 hours. Faculty teaching off-campus may request an extension of up to one week.
- Holders of Alumni Cards or Fenway Library Consortium Cards
These users may use equipment on the premises in the Kresge Center.
- Off-Campus Faculty
Equipment may be reserved (617-349-8860) and borrowed by Lesley University faculty teaching off-campus for a period of 48 hours.
Media Services include reference and technical supports for all equipment and its use.

Media materials (audio, video, slides, etc.) from the Library's collections or from faculty members' personal collections, may be placed on reserve in the Kresge Center. All media materials that are placed on reserve are reviewed for the appropriate display, retention, or duplication permissions.
There are two separate systems of reserve:

OPEN RESERVE materials may be checked out overnight for use outside the library.
- CLOSED RESERVE materials may be used within the library only.
All personal items must be picked up at the end of the requested reserve period; library holdings are returned to the stacks.
