AIB Library Collections

Circulating Books

The Library's 10,000 books support AIB's curriculum. Thus, the bulk of the collection consists of books on art history, fine arts, design, illustration and animation, and the liberal arts

Reference Books

The reference collection includes encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, and indexes for use in the library.

Periodicals

The AIB Library subscribes to 80 periodicals covering the visual arts and supporting topics. Back issues of National Geographic circulate to students.

Vertical File

The vertical file collection includes files with exhibition catalogues and also gallery promotions. The materials are arranged alphabetically and circulate for 28 days. They are not currently included in the online catalog.

Videotapes and DVDs

The Library has a collection of about 600 videotapes and DVDs. The majority of these are documentaries on art and artists, but our collection also includes films, animation videos, and video art.

Slide Collection and Images

The Slide Collection is located in its own room at the back of the Library. The 45,000 slides are primarily for use by faculty, but students may check out slides after receiving instruction from the Slide Curator. The Library also subscribes to AMICO, an online image database.
