    Search the FLO Catalog to identify books, videos and teaching resources with multicultural themes. Lesley Libraries have collected multicultural titles in every field of study.

  • Articles

    Search the Library databases for references to articles on your topic. Many databases offer full-text articles to read, download, e-mail or print. Access the databases through the myLibrary tab in myLesley. Need help? Go to "Get Started."

    • Ethnic NewsWatch offers publications from ethnic communities around the world, primarily in English - the best place to find ethnic voices on current issues. Listed under News, Intercultural Relations and Social Sciences.
    • Places to Start Databases: Academic Search Premier, Wilson Omni File, and Expanded Academics ASAP - have full-text articles on ethinic and cultural issues in all fields of study.
    • Specialized Databases offer in-depth information on multicultural issues in their particular discipline. They may not offer full-text articles.

The Library on Racism is a unique resource located a half block from the Massachusetts State House in Boston. All materials deal with race, racism, multiculturalism, and diversity, including many hard-to-find titles. The library contains about 2,000 adult books and 200 children's books, as well as 200 video tapes available for on-site viewing; 130 topical files, including essays, articles, and news clippings; and nearly 200 filed reports from state advisory committees to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission.

The Library is a free lending library. Visitors are welcome to borrow books for 2 or 3 weeks. New users are asked to register and pay a one-time fee of $5.00 as a gesture of commitment to preserve the library collection. Although posted hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm, visitors are invited to call ahead to arrange an evening or weekend visit.

  • The Black World Today

    The Black World Today is an online news organization and service center that seeks to chronicle the daily social, political, cultural and economic realities of Black communities and countries. Services include daily news coverage, a travel service, a computer store, a technology section, a business center and a virtual learning center called Sankofa University, where various fee-based Afrocentric courses are taught by outstanding black scholars, writers and journalists. Leading black intellectuals and artists regularly contribute articles and commentaries. Has a running AP ticker with the latest national/international news. Works best with Microsoft Internet Explorer.

  • Gay & Lesbian National Hotline

    Provides links to regional and local organizations for gays and lesbians and free telephone referral to services around the country.

  • Hispanic Pages in the USA

    This site offers COLOQUIO, an online cultural magazine in Spanish or English, plus extensive pages on famous Hispanics in the world and history, links to Hispanic countries a beautiful illustrated article on Seville, Spain, and bullfighting.

  • Irish Resources

    Boston College's Irish Resources is a comprehensive site for Irish studies. Links are provided to genealogy, mythology, literature, government publications, church history and other resources illustrating Irish heritage.

    This comprehensive site guides teachers in selection of web, print and media resources for teaching African American studies in grades 6-12. Created by Lesley grad Gerri Gribi, this site features Reference, Professional Development and Subject areas: History, Language Arts, Music, Math & Science, and Visual Arts.

    From the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia comes this exceptional site featuring a Teacher's Corner, opportunities for dialog, multicultural song database, full-text papers and research documents in multicultural education, sets of data from social service agencies, and a checklist for evaluating multicultural web sites.

  • Japanese-American Exhibit and Access Project: Camp Harmony

    This site was developed by the University of Washington Libraries to give in-depth information on the Internment Camps into which Japanese Americans were forceably moved during World War II. Includes background, first person accounts and images.

  • Native Tech: Native American Technology and Art

    Dedicated to changing the perceptions of those that consider Native American art and technology "primitive,"this site explores various areas of Native American art and technology, including their history and development, emphasizing the Eastern Woodlands region.

  • Sipapu: Chetro Ketl Great Kiva

    An interactive site that allows students to explore a model of the Great Kiva, in Chaco Canyon in northwestern New Mexico.

  • United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

    The Holocaust Museum site provides extensive information on the Holocaust including a photograph collection, a searchable library database of the museum's holdings, a description of teaching about the Holocaust, and information on the museum and other related organizations.
