Search Tips
Avoid using the terms "expressive therapies" or "inter-modal" in your search
statements. Instead use any of the following:
- art therapy - often refers to more than one modality
- therap* and art
- cancer and art
- patient and art
- trauma and art
- creative arts therap*
- art therap* and music therap*
Truncation
Using an * at the end of a word or word root tells the computer to search
for variant endings. Therap* = therapy, therapies, therapeutic. Don't use
for art because art* finds unrelated words like, article, artificial, arthurian,
etc.
(In the FLO catalog, use ? instead of *)
Journals
Lesley University has an excellent collection of print journals in the various
arts therapies. They can be easily browsed in the library. (A librarian would
be pleased to help you find the right shelves to browse.) Most - but not all
- art therapy journals are indexed in library databases. A very few are available
full-text online. To verify if a journal is either in print at Lesley or in
a library database, see our online Journals
List.
Library Databases
Access the databases through the myLibrary tab in myLesley.
Need help? Go to "Get
Started."

in medical journals.
Books & Videos
Lesley University has an extensive collection of books and videos in the
various arts therapies.
- FLO Catalog
Search the FLO Catalog for references to books and videos. Once again, the
subject heading "art therapy" is broadly applied.
- Getting books from off-campus
Students in the US are invited to go to their public library to request
that a Lesley book be sent by Interlibrary
Loan. Students in Israel have
access to an excellent focused book collection at the AIPI library.
