Our subscription databases offer full-text journal articles, documents, and books - to read or to print. Lesley students and faculty may access the databases from any computer with Internet access - anywhere in the world. Access the databases through the myLibrary tab in myLesley. Need help?   • Start with Multi-Disciplinary Databases
    These databases offer rich resources in environmental studies, science and education. Each has unique journal titles the others do not have.

    Academic Search Premier
    This database offers a large collection of full-text journals and the result list indicates which journals are available in Ludcke Library. Journal of Environmental Education is full-text here. You may limit to peer-reviewed and/or full text articles.

    EnviroLink network is a non-profit organization which provides access to thousands of online environmental resources. Use the Advanced Search feature to find information on environmental topics.

    Access Science - Encyclopedia of Science & Technology
    Do a keyword search for your topic by common or scientific name. Offers related web sites and bibliographies, suggested essay topics and study guides.

    Ethnic Newswatch
    100% full-text database of ethnic newspapers from around the world, with articles in English and Spanish.

    ERIC
    Citations to education journals and ERIC documents - links to some full-text articles (including Journal of Environmental Education) and ERIC documents back to 1993.

    The FRS is a centrally managed database, developed by the EPA, which provides access to comprehensive information about facilities subject to environmental regulation or of environmental interest.

    EPA's National Center for Environmental Research (NCER) is one of five research organizations comprising EPA’s Office of Research and Development (ORD). NCER’s mission is to support high-quality extramural research by the nation’s leading scientists that will improve the scientific basis for decisions on national environmental issues and help EPA achieve its goals. NCER is one of three national laboratories and two national centers that mirror the National Academy of Sciences’ risk assessment paradigm by focusing on exposure (National Exposure Research Lab), effects (National Health and Environmental Effects Research Lab), risk assessment (National Center for Environmental Assessment) and risk management (National Risk Management Research Lab). NCER supports leading-edge, extramural research in each of these areas of national environmental concern.

  • National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences

    Information on environmental health from the National Institutes of Health. Includes news, details about research projects, and pages for kids.
  • PLANTS National Database
    http://plants.usda.gov
    From the Department of Agriculture, this site includes plant names and symbols, distribution data, images, and links. Click “Invasive & Noxious” for information on invasive plant species.

  • EarthTrends Environmental Information

    International in scope, this site offers a comprehensive online database of environmental, social and economic trends. Includes statistics, maps, and analyses for ecosystems, countries, and environmental issues. From the World Resources Institute.
  • PopPlanet – National Library for the Environment

    A joint venture of the Population Reference Bureau and the National Council for Science and the Environment, this site offers information about the impact of the human population on the environment. Includes bibliographies, links to reports and a variety of data on individual countries
  • Wetlands International – Ramsar Sites Information Service

    A searchable database of information about wetlands worldwide that includes overview data and maps.

  • Environmental Research Foundation

    This website includes a searchable library database that covers many environmental topics and provides understandable scientific information about the influence of toxic substances on human health and the environment. Read the free newsletter, Rachel’s Environment & Health News.
  • NatureServe – A Network Connecting Science with Conservation

    A nonprofit conservation organization, NatureServe gathers and provides information from national heritage programs and conservation data centers on species and ecosystems of the Western Hemisphere. Click “Get Data” to search.
  • Urban Ecology

    " Works to build cities that are ecologically thriving and socially just." This California-based site contains articles on designing community, building livable cities, and planning sustainable regions.

  • Audubon Expedition Institute

    This began as a cooperative program between Lesley University and the National Audubon Society and is now overseen by Lesley. The program offers bachelors and masters degrees in environmental education and environmental studies.

    The Centre “provides information for policy and action to conserve the living world.” Areas of specialization include biodiversity, sustainable management, international environmental agreements, and public awareness and education.

    This kid-oriented site is sponsored by the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) and the Santa Barbara schools. It includes a web site that introduces the study of ecology to elementary school students, and a “Scientist in the Classroom” program, which engages students in authentic data-gathering and allows them to design and conduct scientific experiments in ecology.
