Off-Campus
Library Information Introducing Ludcke LibraryAll off-campus students and faculty are welcome at Ludcke Library. The Library is located on the Lesley University campus on Mellen Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, just off "Mass Ave."
Ludcke Library's growing resources include over 100,000 books, videotapes, teaching resources, and other media. The reference staff is available to serve off-campus students through its Ask A Librarian email service, by phone, or in person. Online electronic resources include 40,000 journals and 100,000 ERIC documents through the library databases. To obtain a library card, bring your Lesley photo ID to the circulation desk and fill out an application. Your ID will be validated as a library card. To get a College ID, students must bring their current registration form to the Security Office, which is open 24 hours a day and located across the Quad from the Library. Note: If you are off-campus, and never expect to come to Ludcke Library or the libraries of the Fenway, you do not need a Ludcke Library card. It is not required for access to the library's electronic resources. Lesley University is a member of Fenway Library Consortium (FLC), a network of academic libraries that share resources and borrowing privileges. Shared holdings include materials in many fields: the arts, business and management, communications, psychology, education and the humanities, architecture and health sciences. Students may access these libraries by presenting a current, valid Ludcke Library card. Travel and ParkingThe easiest way to travel to Lesley is by public transportation. The Library is an approx.15 minute walk from either the Harvard Square or Porter Square "T" stops on the Red Line, as well as the Amtrak station at Porter Square. Students wishing to use the limited parking available at Lesley will need an appropriate permit. For details, go to the Parking Services page. Street parking may be difficult during the day, but parking meters may be available on Mass Ave. Be aware that Cambridge is very efficient at ticketing cars and fines are high. Sunday is a good day to park on the street, as meters are free and street parking is not restricted to cars with permits. For more details, see directions and campus map. For more about the library, see the Services or Information sections of the Lesley Libraries Home Page. Back to Off-Campus Handbookupdated 04/19/07 | 09:36 AM
