Off-Campus Faculty Services

A Lesley Professor

Faculty teaching off-campus may need to know the following:

Library Privileges at Lesley Libraries

All faculty members, whether Adjunct or Core, are entitled to full services at the Lesley Libraries. For a full list of library services on- and off-campus, go to Faculty Services.

Online Resources

A growing collection of library databases allow students and faculty to search their topic and view, print or download articles and e-books from any computer with web access. These databases offer literature in a wide variety of subject areas. Databases are password-protected (see below).

Library Passwords

Databases and Resources by State are restricted to Lesley University faculty, students and staff. Databases require a myLesley login for access. Go to https://my.lesley.edu to log in.

Many publishers offer full-text articles free from their home pages. Two web sites detail these options:

Journals List

If you're looking for a particular journal, feel free to search the online Journals List. The Journals List will indicate if a journal title is...

  • Full-text in one of our 40+ online databases
  • Listed in the FLO library catalog, which means the journal is available in the Lesley Libraries print collection.

Requesting Article Copies

Library's online request forms - Delivery time will be dependent on the location of the materials requested.

Library Instruction

Library instruction for off-campus classes is arranged on an individual basis. Among the options are:

  • Bring your class to the Cambridge Campus
  • Request that a librarian come to your off-campus site
  • Arrange for a visit to a library near the off-campus site
  • Request a powerpoint presentation or video to introduce library research concepts to your class

We cannot guarantee to provide a librarian for every site, but we will be pleased to work with you to support your instruction needs in the best way we can.

Reserves

Most off-campus sites do not have facilities for offering reserve readings to students. However, you may ask students to retrieve particular articles online through out full-text databases. For help with this, see the online guide, How to Search for Reserve Readings in Library Databases..

Off-Campus Library Handbook

Off-campus services and resources for students are described in the online Off-Campus Library Handbook. A Quick Reference Guide to off-campus services is available as a print document. It is distributed to new groups at their first class by the site coordinator. If your students have not received their Quick Reference Guide, please contact Kathy Holmes at kholmes@lesley.edu. You may also download the Guide at http://www.lesley.edu/library/guides/quick.pdf

'lectronic Library Links

'lectronic Library Links is an online newsletter designed to provide library information to students taking online courses. To request a copy of this newsletter for distribution to your students, send e-mail to Kathy Holmes at kholmes@lesley.edu.

Consultation With a Librarian

Adjunct and core faculty members are invited to consult with Ludcke and AIB Librarians when preparing their syllabi. We can help you identify appropriate library resources and services at the Lesley Libraries, on the World Wide Web, and at libraries near your home or off-campus site.

For more information about off-campus services, contact Kathy Holmes, Assistant Library Director, 617/349-8870 or e-mail kholmes@lesley.edu.
