Formats MLA Citation FormatPlease note: MLA has published a new 7th edition
of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. The library recommends
that people continue citing according to the 6th edition until the end of the
spring
semester.
Revised
handouts will be posted to this web page and new print editions will be available

One of the citation formats Lesley University recommends to students is the Modern Language Association citation format. MLA is most commonly used to cite research done in the humanities, such as literature, language or history. The following pages include sample citations from the MLA handbook:
