The Lesley School was founded by Edith Lesley in 1909 to train women
to become Kindergarten and Elementary School teachers and it has grown
substantially throughout its 100-year history to become a leading
University in the field of teacher preparation.

There have been five presidents, spanning Lesley's unique history.
From its beginnings in 1909 as a kindergarten teacher training school to
its current status as a university of international prominence, Lesley
has grown, faced challenges, and evolved, guided by five leaders, who
strove for excellence and moved Lesley in new directions.
