International Student Application Procedure
Lesley College welcomes applications from international students. International applicants applying for the January term (spring) must apply by our preferred deadline of November 1. International applicants applying for the September term (fall) must apply by the same deadlines as U.S. first year or transfer students.
In addition to the credentials required for first year and transfer applicants, an international student must also submit:
- Test of English Proficiency: For students whose native language is not English, an official copy of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) must be submitted. A minimum TOEFL test score of 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based) or 80 (Internet based) or a minimum IELTS test score of 6.5 is required for admission in order to ensure a student's ability to participate successfully in the Lesley curriculum.
- Foreign Credential Evaluation: Students who have university level coursework or secondary school coursework from a foreign institution must have their transcripts evaluated and translated in English by a recognized agency such as World Education Services or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
An I-20 form (necessary for obtaining a U.S. student visa), will be provided only after the student has been accepted and has submitted both the certification of finances and the required enrollment deposit signifying intent to enroll.
- Certification of Finances: Because need-based financial aid is not available for international students, each applicant must submit a certification of finances from a bank stating that they have sufficient funds available to cover the cost of a Lesley education ($51,389 per year if a residential student). The certification of finances must be dated and submitted no earlier than three months before the start of the student's first semester so as to be a current reflection of funds.
*Lesley College Merit Scholarships are available to international students on an individualized basis. Incoming freshman and transfer students will be notified of a merit scholarship award at the point of admission. Merit scholarships are awarded annually, for each year of study, provided students are enrolled full-time (a minimum of 12 credits each semester) and maintain satisfactory academic progress toward their degree.
