Lesley College Internships
Let's Get Working!
Lesley College internships provide you with off-campus opportunities in your field of interest. This is your opportunity to put into practice the skills and theories you will learn in the classroom and obtain practical hands on experience in significant work-learning situations that expand your outlook and raise your confidence level.
Besides broadening your scope of knowledge and helping you determine whether the area of study you are pursuing is right for you, an internship is a terrific résumé builder. There is no more fruitful way to introduce you to your future world, or develop the leadership qualities to succeed in it.
How It Works
Lesley College has an Internship Office specifically dedicated to assisting and supporting you in securing internship placements and ensuring that you have the best possible experience. Our internship coordinators will work with you to improve your interviewing techniques, sharpen your résumé writing skills, and direct you to the internship opportunities that match your interests and professional goals. Internship opportunities are available during your sophomore, junior, and senior years. Education majors-see Field Placement Office at 27 Mellen Street.

"Having the opportunity to do two of my three internships in international settings, Ecuador and South Africa, was life altering. It allowed me to appreciate both the human and policy components of public service work that shaped my holistic view on social change."
- Reena Patel, Individualized Program in International Development
"Having the opportunity to intern for Cultural Survival was the best experience I had while at Lesley. Being part of an organization whose work was so closely related to my own interests made the hours there enjoyable; I enjoyed it so much I never left. Now I have the most important, exciting, and meaningful job I have ever had in my life."
- Jason Moore, Global Studies
"My internship at Women in Community Service is really going to be helpful in my field. I will already have case management experience before I even begin my senior year."

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an internship?
An internship is a structured, credit-bearing, supervised work experience designed to enrich and complement the academic program. An internship enables you to discover the links between academic study and the application of classroom knowledge to practical work situations. Internships are usually unpaid.
Do I have to find an internship on my own?
No. Our internship coordinators will work with you to suggest several possible opportunities. Under the supervision of our coordinators, you will have access to search our internship database or explore external listings.
How many hours do I have to work? How many weeks?
Each internship placement is a semester long. Your work hours per week will vary depending on your class rank and your specific program.
Do I receive academic credit for my internship?
Yes. As a Lesley University student you receive academic credit for your internship as long as you take the academic course that coincides with it.
How am I supervised?
During your internship you will be supervised by your Lesley College internship coordinator, your coinciding academic course instructor, and finally your direct supervisor at your internship site.
Do internships have to be in the Cambridge/Boston area?
You must be in the Cambridge/Boston area to receive credit for your sophomore year. After your sophomore year, with approval from your program director and internship coordinator, you may do an internship outside the area, as long as it meets all other requirements.
