Laura Fokkena

Laura Fokkena is a doctoral student in education at Lesley and an adjunct faculty member in Lesley's Global Studies and Intercultural Relations departments. She has an Ed.M. in International Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and an MA in International Development from The University of Iowa. Her work has been published in the anthologies Waking Up American, Expat, Mamaphonic, and What Matters in America: Reading and Writing About Contemporary Culture. Last year Laura started a nonprofit organization, Rise Out, that supports Boston-area teens who want to leave high school to design their own education.
