Vacation, Sick, and Personal Time Benefits

Vacation:

Benefit-eligible employees who are paid monthly (Administrators and 12-month Faculty members) accrue four weeks of vacation per calendar year. Employees who are paid bi-weekly (Support Staff) accrue two to four weeks of vacation per anniversary year, depending upon length of service. For the first three years of employment Support Staff accrue ten days per anniversary year. From more than three years through five years, Support Staff accrue fifteen days per anniversary year. After more than five years, Support Staff accrue twenty days per anniversary year. A maximum of ten days may be carried over from year to year, without prior approval. Nine and ten-month faculty do not accrue vacation.

As of January 1, 2003 sick time accrues at 1 day a month to a maximum of 90 days. A total of 4 sick days/year can be used to care for immediate family members, elderly relatives, and legally recognized dependents.

As of January 1, 2003, employees receive 3 personal days/year that will replace existing Summer Fridays. Personal days cannot be carried over from year to year but can be used at anytime throughout the year. If you are newly hired, personal days are alloted as follows:

  • If working as of 4/01/xx: 3 days
  • If working as of 7/01/xx: 2 days
  • If working as of 9/01/xx: 1 day
  • If hired after 9/01/xx: 0 days
