This course takes an in-depth look at how to use Guided Reading in the 3-8 classroom.
Guided Reading is available as an on-campus 5-day course (credit or noncredit) or as an 8-week online course. This course is worth 3 graduate credits (on-campus or online) or 35 noncredit professional development points (on-campus only).

We are offering 3 sections of this course on-campus in Summer 2016.
In this course, you will learn how to observe and assess the reading behaviors of intermediate and middle school students; form flexible groups; analyze and select appropriate texts; and plan guided reading lessons that address the needs of individual readers within the group. You will learn about the complex nature of the reading process and consider how each element of a guided reading lesson presents opportunities for teaching and learning that will support the varying needs of students, including those whose first language might not be English.
In this 5 day course, you will:
Participation in this course requires all of the books to learn the content, so every person needs the required texts, with no exceptions.
