Interdisciplinary Studies Program

Women's Studies Specialization

The Women's Studies specialization makes use of the extensive faculty and curricular resources, as well as Lesley's commitment to providing gradate students with experiential learning. As a result, graduates are prepared to be dynamic leaders capable of applying feminist theory to real world problems.

Working closely with a faculty mentor, students create a degree plan that begins with three required core courses followed by five elective courses that support the direction of their Women's Studies specialization and provide an opportunity to deepen a focus or build upon a theme. The specialization concludes with three required core courses, including a Directed study, Praxis seminar, which integrates the learning experience, and a final thesis project. The program of study can also be completed through the weekend model where students come to campus for two weekends per semester and complete related coursework independently.
