Interdisciplinary Studies Program Main Campus Format
The campus-based format allows students to specialize in Women's Studies or Integrative Holistic Health or Individually Design a program using existing courses across the University. This is typically completed in 4 to 6 semesters and students may begin in the spring, summer or fall semester. Students meet with their faculty advisor each semester to identify what courses will best meet their educational goals. In addition to traditional courses, there is also the opportunity to participate in Travel Study courses, develop individually guided studies and internship experiences. Required CoursesThere are 4 required courses (People and Place: Interdisciplinary Perspectives, Ways of Knowing:How We Make Meaning, Praxis: Integrating Theory and Practice and Thesis/Integrative Final Project) in the program. People and Place: Interdisciplinary Perspectives is offered every fall semester and Ways of Knowing:How We Make Meaning is offered every spring semester. Both of these courses meet for 5 Saturdays throughout the semester. Praxis:Integrating Theory into Practice is offered in the fall semester and The Thesis/Integrative Final Project is offered each semester. In most instances, the first and second semesters consist of taking one of the required courses and other courses related to the specialization. updated 04/17/08 | 02:50 PM
