Interdisciplinary Studies Program
Interdisciplinary Studies Program
Breaking Boundaries, Beyond Conventions
This flexible, innovative program allows you to develop your own Individualized Specialization by combining traditional courses and individually designed studies from various disciplines or you may choose to specialize in Women's Studies or Integrative Holistic Health. In this program, you will have the close collaboration and expert guidance of the faculty and the program office to help you develop and carry out an integrated study plan. Our graduates have developed successful workshops and businesses in education, human services, the arts, gone on to doctoral programs, and achieved new professional goals. The program offers a 33 credit Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Program Format
The Interdisciplinary Studies Program is typically completed in four semesters, although it can be completed in three semesters. Students meet for two weekends on the Lesley Main Campus in Fall semester (September and November) and in the Spring semester (January and March).
In each semester students take one core course, and design a coherent study plan with the guidance and collaboration of faculty advisors. The semester study may consist of traditional graduate level courses, travel study courses with The Traditions and Cultures Institutes, guided independent studies and/or internships in their program of study or a combination of the above. Each student receives on-going, personalized support for the entire semester from their Faculty Mentor. Additionally, dialogue with peers and faculty takes place through regular electronic communication.
