I have earned an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an EdM from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Before joining Lesley, I taught as a mentor in a photography apprenticeship program for high school students, as an artist in residence in Pittsburg Public High Schools and as an Artist Teacher in an arts based public charter school in Washington, DC. As an Artist and Educator, I engage in the arts as a process of investigation both in and out of the classroom. My photographic work examines a number of issues ranging from nationalism and cultural assimilation to beauty, nostalgia and the passing of time. In the classroom I challenge students to engage in research as they investigate multiple perspectives on their subject matter and develop extensive art based projects. I currently teach Art and Culture in Community, Art and Visual Inquiry, Integrated Arts Approaches in the Curriculum, and Teaching the Fundamentals of Visual Arts.
