Kerrie Bellisario

Assistant Professor and Associate Director, Creative Arts in Learning
M.F.A., University of Connecticut, B.F.A., Maryland Institute College of Art

I have earned an MFA from the University of Connecticut and a BFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art. Before joining Lesley, I was the Executive Director of ArtWorks!, Partners for the Arts and Community - a contemporary art center in New Bedford, Massachusetts. While at ArtWorks!, I instituted community-based art education programs, oversaw an artists-in-residence program, and curated numerous exhibitions of fine art and craft. As an artist, I engage in the arts as a mechanism for social change - bringing together ideas and images in personal narratives that prompt investigations into a larger scale of human issues. As an educator, I am interested in facilitating the voices of students and leading discussions that make us all think more about the world we occupy. I currently teach Art and Culture in Community, Art and Visual Inquiry, and the Practicum and Seminar in Art Education.
