Arts Integration
The teaching of curricular content through artistic explorations: teaching in, teaching through, and teaching with the arts. 

Literacy
The arts represent "other languages."  They encourage in teachers and their students not only verbal literacy (poetry, drama and storytelling), but musical, kinesthetic, and visual literacies.  The arts provide a variety of ways to connect with content and allow students multiple modes in which to express their learning.
