Intercultural Relations Program
A Vision
The Intercultural Relations Program is built upon a vision - to foster mutual respect and cooperation among people of different cultures, thus helping to lay a foundation for understanding among peoples. Since its founding over two decades ago as a pioneering program, the program has stood at the forefront in advancing the study and practice of intercultural relations. The program's unique focus on the human dimension of intercultural interactions sets it apart from the traditional macro-political approach of international relations programs. It is this focus that attracts professionals from throughout the United States and around the world who want to make a meaningful difference through people.
Program Features
- Selection of students based on experience, values, vision, interpersonal skills, and commitment to people. The program believes who you are is as important as what you know.
- Diversity of faculty members. The program believes that diverse approaches to teaching are essential to assist students in appreciating diversity.
- Diversity in student population. The program has students from across the globe as well as throughout the United States. The varied background of the students creates a rich learning environment.
- Balance between theory and practice. The program allows students to put into practice what they've learned in the classroom through group projects, fieldwork, volunteering, and the internship. All of these take advantage of the diverse resources available in the greater Boston area.
- Fostering an intercultural community. Students participate in program-sponsored social gatherings, alumni events, career workshops, and other events.
- Personalized attention. Faculty work with each student to explore individual interests, create a vision for their career and implement it, and encourage students to participate in conferences, seminars, and other networking opportunities.
