Dean's Merit Scholarship program for On-Campus Master's degree students

What is the Dean’s Merit Scholarship?

The scholarship award is the cost of tuition for two 3-credit course (on-campus programs only), one in the fall and one in the spring semester for each year of the student’s Master’s program. Merit scholarships will be awarded by the Deans of the School of Education and the Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences.

Recipients of the Merit Scholarship should have a strong academic background, demonstrated leadership skills, and a commitment to the field of education, social services, the environment, or consulting.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Student must be accepted to a School of Education or Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences Master’s program for fall 2008.
  • Student must have a minimum GPA of a 3.4 in a previous degree program.
  • Student must maintain full-time status (9 credits or more) in the fall and spring semesters for the duration of the program.
  • Student must maintain an A- (3.7) average in Lesley coursework (School of Education only)
  • Student must submit a complete scholarship application by May 15, 2008.

Application Requirements

  • Student must have been accepted to a Master’s program or have a complete admissions packet on file in the Graduate Admissions Office by May 15, 2008.
  • Student must complete the scholarship application (page 2 of this document).
  • Student must submit a current resume.
  • Student must submit a 2–3 page essay discussing the guidelines below. The essay should be typed, double-spaced in a 12-point font.

    Please note: There are different guidelines for School of Education and Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences students. 
  • Student must submit the application with a resume and essay to the Admissions Office by May 15, 2008.
