Dr. Stokes is director of the School of Education's Educational Studies Doctoral Programs. He has also served as the School of Education's interim dean, director of the School's Research, Evaluation, and Assessment Division, Lesley University's Dean of Faculty, and professor. As director of the Hood Children's Literacy Project, Dr. Stokes was principal investigator and grant administrator. With Irene Fountas, he was director of the Literacy Institute, whose emphasis was on emergent literacy and developmental, progressive education.
