The Lesley University Co-Occurring Disorders Community of Practice offers counselors and other mental health professionals a space to experience and continuously create shared identity through engaging in and contributing to the practices of their communities. Knowing that our clients who struggle with co-occurring mental health disorders and substance use disorders are the norm, not the exception, we seek to broaden our understanding of what it means to be a skilled, effective counselor through:  1) Training in the theory and treatment of substance use disorders; 2) Developing competencies in understanding and providing co-occurring disorder treatment; 3) Engaging in peer consultation and clinical presentations of co-occurring treatment; 4) Applying and adapting what we know to diverse populations; and 5) Expanding our circles of resource sharing and networking.

Come for all or part of the meeting and feel free to bring your dinner! Facilitated by Maggie Giles, faculty member in the Division of Counseling and Psychology at Lesley University.
