Come outside and play at the Cambridge Plays and Lesley Art + Design block pARTy! This is a creative re-engagement initiative to bring vitality and energy through art, music, dance, and other activities back to neighborhoods and commercial corridors across the City of Cambridge. Programs at Porter Square are presented in partnership with the Porter Square Neighbors Association.

Stop by to check out:

"Mini Meets" by Karsen Andrews and the Office of Community Engagement: A pop-up conversation and exchange that uses sculpture, comedy, and history to explore the functionality of public spaces in Porter Square. Presented in partnership with History Cambridge. (Shapiro Family Plaza near CVS Porter Square)

"A Trike Called Funk": pop-up dance tunes (Shapiro Family Plaza)

"Our Place": facilitated by professors at Lesley Art + Design and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Explore local ecology, art making and its interconnectedness with the human experience, with an emphasis on nesting. Presented with fourth and sixth grade students and teachers at East Somerville Community School. Stop by to play and make a "nest" of your own out of upcycled materials. (Lunder Arts Center courtyard and sidewalk)

"Acknowledge + Listen" by Graphic Design + Interactive Design students: a large-scale mural and podcast that honors the ancestral lands of the Massachuset, Nipmuc, and Wampanoag Peoples. (Lunder Arts Center, Roseland Street side)

Developed by the City of Cambridge Community Development and Cambridge Arts in partnership with Central Square Business Improvement District, East Cambridge Business Association, Harvard Square Business Association, Harvard University, Lesley Art + Design and the Office of Community Engagement, and MIT's Office of Open Space Programming.
