Meet the Director

Valerie ShinasValerie Harlow Shinas is director of our Language and Literacy Division. Prior to her doctoral studies, she was a middle school teacher and building-level specialist. This work led her to develop a deep interest in both adolescent literacy and the ways technology can be used in the literacy classroom. Other areas of expertise include social semiotic theories of multimodality, teacher preparation, and TPACK. Read full profile »
