Are you a current educator in Mississippi and interested in learning more about the process to add a level or an additional field to your teaching license? If so, read more to help guide you through the process.
Full listing of Mississippi endorsements.
Supplemental Endorsement Areas added to a Five-Year Standard or Three Year Educator License
Note: All supplemental endorsements are added at the Class A level and renewal requirements are based upon the highest level of license. Also, supplemental endorsements may not be added to a one year educator license, two year reciprocity license, JROTC License, or an expert citizen license.
* Academic endorsements may not be added to the initial 3-year Vocational Education license
A supplemental endorsement may be achieved by one of the following options:
- Praxis II subject area test in specific areas
- Completion of approved program in specific areas (institutional program verification required) approved course, module or workshop
- 21 hours of coursework in specific areas (a college transcript review will determine if it shows the required number of hours of pure content subject courses.)
Endorsement Earned Through Direct Application, Institutional Recommendation, or Content Testing
An educator may obtain a Mississippi endorsement in the areas listed below by successfully completing the corresponding Lesley program. Applicants should submit for review all official transcripts (or passing score of Praxis II Specialty Area Test) and application (including Institutional Recommendation form, if applicable) to the Mississippi Department of Education.
