TEACHER CERTIFICATION FOR EDUCATORS in MICHIGAN
Are you a current educator in Michigan and interested in learning more about the process to add a level or an additional field to your teaching license? If so, read more to help guide you through the process.
Certificate endorsement means subject or subjects that a teacher is authorized to teach at specific grade levels based on completion of appropriate coursework and passage of the appropriate state teacher subject area examination. View the Michigan endorsement standards.
There are two types of teaching certificates for a Michigan educator:
Provisional Certificate and Professional Education Certificate

Endorsements Earned Through Direct Application
An educator may obtain a Michigan endorsement in the areas listed below by successfully completing the corresponding Lesley program. Applicants should submit to the Michigan teacher licensing office official transcripts and test scores.
Cognitive Impairment - A student should complete the full 24-credit Special Education program. Students are also required to successfully pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification, test 056: Cognitive Impairment.
Learning Disabilities - A student should complete the full 24-credit Special Education program. Students are also required to successfully pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification, test 063: Learning Disabilities.
Authorization and Educator Licensure in Michigan
Authorization - Lesley University is not required to seek authorization to operate based on Lesley's current activity within this state, as determined by the Michigan Office of Postsecondary Services, Proprietary School Unit.
