For any teacher who holds a valid Type A, B, C, Level 1, 2, or
3 Louisiana certificate, to add an endorsement you must complete the
requirements listed next to each subject area.

Through Direct Application
Lesley University can help you obtain
the Louisiana endorsements listed below by successfully completing a
corresponding Lesley program. Applicants should submit for review all official
transcripts (or passing score of Praxis II Subject-area test, if applicable)
and application to the Louisiana Department of Education.
Computer Literacy - Complete 9 credits within any
instructional technology courses.
Educational Technology
Facilitator (requires a Type B or Level 2 LA Teaching certificate).
The suggested 9 credits of coursework are:

Online Instructor - Complete online
courses in topics that can be found by clicking on the link provided above.
Completion of six weeks of experience as an online instructor/facilitator is
required. Suggested courses to meet endorsement requirements are:

Mild/Moderate Special Education (1-5) -
Students may add this endorsement to a valid Early Childhood, Elementary, or
Early Interventionist Certificate. Students should complete the full 24-credit
Special Education program. It is also recommended that students complete the
Lesley course EEDUC 6136 Struggling Readers and Writers to satisfy the
Louisiana Reading and Literacy standard. A passing score for Special
Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications (0543) Praxis exam
is required.
Middle Grades Mathematics - Complete 30
credits in the content area of mathematics and 6 credits of reading or achieve
a passing score for Middle School: Specialty Area exam in the content area
mathematics and reading.
Middle Grades Science -
Complete 30 credits in the content area of science and 6 credits of reading or
achieve a passing score for Middle School: Specialty Area exam in the content
area science and reading.
English as a Second Language
(ESL) - Complete 12 credits in: Methods of Teaching ESL (3 cr.),
Intro. to Language & Culture (3 cr.), structure of the English Language (3
cr.), & Curriculum Design for the Multicultural Classroom (3 cr.).
Please note it is important that students interested in earning an
endorsement through Lesley programs contact the Louisiana Department of
Education prior to registration to ensure that you are informed of the
certification requirements needed to receive an endorsement.
Authorization and Teacher Licensure in Louisiana
Authorization - Lesley University is not required to seek
authorization to operate based on Lesley's current activity within this state,
as determined by the Louisiana Board of Regents.
Teacher Licensure:
Higher education authorization and teacher licensure approval are separate
