TEACHER CERTIFICATION FOR EDUCATORS in KANSAS
Are you a current educator in Kansas and interested in learning more about the process to add a level or an additional field to your teaching license? If so, read more to help guide you through the process.
An educator in Kansas may add an endorsement to their current teaching license through the completion of one of two options:
Option 1: Add a teaching endorsement by passing the appropriate content assessment. Note: Early childhood unified, elementary education and special education (adaptive, functional, gifted, deaf or hard of hearing and visually impaired) CANNOT be added by testing only. For information on the required test, test review, and registering for a test go to www.ets.org/praxis/ks.
Option 2: Complete an approved program for the new teaching endorsement. Educators interested in a Lesley University program should apply via Option 1 above, as Lesley programs are not pre-approved by the Kansas Department of Education.
Endorsement Earned Through Content Testing
Lesley University can help you obtain the endorsements listed below by successfully passing the appropriate content assessment in Option 1. The programs will help prepare you for the test, and more importantly, to be a confident and effective educator. Applicants should submit verification of passing score of Praxis II Subject-area test and application to the Kansas Department of Education.
Please note it is important that students interested in earning an endorsement through Lesley programs contact the Kansas Department of Education prior to registration to ensure that you are informed of the certification requirements needed to receive an endorsement.
