TEACHER CERTIFICATION FOR EDUCATORS in ARIZONA
Are you a current educator in Arizona and interested in learning more about the process to add a level or an additional field to your teaching license? If so, read more to help guide you through the process.
Endorsements are attachments to teaching certificates and indicate areas of specialization. They are for grades K-12 unless otherwise indicated. Once issued, they are automatically renewed with the teaching certificate on which it was posted. Optional endorsements may be required by local governing boards. All requirements for the endorsement must be met and courses and programs must be taken from an accredited institution.

Endorsement Earned Through Direct Application
Lesley University may help you obtain the Arizona endorsement listed below by successfully completing a corresponding Lesley program. Applicants should submit official transcripts and application to the Arizona educator licensing office.

Mathematics Specialist (K-8) endorsement - A student should complete Lesley's full M.Ed. Mathematics Education program in order to meet the 24-credit hour requirement. You must also already hold a valid elementary or special education certificate and have 3 years teaching experience in grades K-8.
Lesley University may help you obtain the Arizona certificate listed below by successfully completing the corresponding Lesley program. Applicants should submit official transcripts and application to the Arizona educator licensing office.

| Provisional Cross-categorical Special Education | Special Education |
Provisional Cross-categorical Special Education Certificate - Students will need two years of verified full-time teaching experience in special education representing 3 of the 5 following disability areas in grades K-12: mental retardation, emotional disability, specific learning disability, orthopedic impairments, and other health impairments. The teaching experience may substitute 8 semester hours of practicum otherwise required. Students should complete the full 24-credit Special Education specialization & will need 13 additional semester hours in education courses. Students must also satisfy the testing requirements and SEI training. Details may be found on the Cross-categorical Special Education requirements document.
Please note it is important that students interested in earning an endorsement through Lesley programs contact the Arizona Department of Education prior to registration to ensure that you are informed of the certification requirements needed to receive an endorsement.
Authorization and Teacher/Educator Licensure
Authorization: Lesley University is not required to seek authorization to operate in Arizona based on Lesley's current activity within this state, as determined by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education.
