The effective literacy coach

New 2, 3 or 4 week training for literacy coaches taught by Irene Fountas!

Join one of the leaders in the field of literacy for intensive work on topics facing today's literacy coaches including:

  • The critical factors of a healthy professional learning community
  • Various models of coaching and professional development
  • How to observe and analyze teaching
  • How to help teachers use data to inform decision making in teaching
  • How to organize for coaching and professional development sessions
  • Hoe to create and effective literacy team in a school
  • The relationship between literacy theory and problems of practice

Class Format
Training is offered in a 2, 3 or 4 week option.  Class meets over the course of the year where you will work closely in interactive sessions and inquiry groups.  There are also opportunities to observe coaching sessions. 

Graduate Credits
There is an option for the earning of graduate level credit from Lesley University with the training for an additional cost with the 3 or 4 week option .

2007 Training Dates*

 Week 1: August 6-10, 2007

Week 2: October 1-5, 2007

Week 3: December 10-14, 2007

Week 4: February 11-15, 2008

*Please note training can only be taken as one of the following options:
Two week option:  weeks 1 & 2
Three week option: weeks 1, 2, & 3
Four week option: weeks 1, 2, 3 & 4

Fee Structure

Two week option: $2,750.00 (includes professional books and materials)

Three week option: $3,750.00 (includes professional books and materials)

Four week option: $4,500.00 (includes professional books and materials)
