The Lesley University Office of Communications tells the Lesley story. We focus on news, events and accomplishments of the Lesley community to promote the expertise and capture the personality of Lesley's distinguished faculty, staff, students and alumni. We communicate Lesley's story through traditional print and electronic media, as well as through a wide range of social media platforms and on Lesley.edu.In addition, the office serves as the liaison between the media and the university, engages in active dialogue with neighborhood, local, state and national civic organizations and governments, and is the conduit of university-related information for the Lesley community and the public, including prospective students, parents, vendors and anyone else looking to learn about Lesley. John Sullivan began as director of communications in August 2013, following two years as the first editor-in-chief for the New Hampshire-based nonprofit, nonpartisan website The Live Free or Die Alliance. Before that, he was night editor of The Salem News and spent nearly 20 years in multiplatform journalism as a reporter, photographer, editor or copy editor and page designer for a variety of daily and weekly newspapers in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire. His career also includes three years as a senior account executive and account manager for a high-tech public relations agency in Watertown, Mass., and several years as a special education teacher assistant and direct care social worker for adolescents in Portland, Maine. He is an alumnus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Amanda McGregor has worked at Lesley University since 2011. Prior to that, she was features editor of The Salem News and editor of the lifestyle magazine Marblehead Home and Style. Prior to those positions, she was a reporter for a number of Massachusetts newspapers, and she has won several professional awards, including First Place for Feature Writing from the New England Press Association and Media of the Year from Northeast Arc. Before launching her career in journalism and communications, she served as a volunteer teacher in the Transylvania region of Romania. She is an alumna of the University of New Hampshire.
Emily EarleSocial Media Specialist
Emily Earle has been the Social Media Specialist for Lesley University since 2017, following three years in various positions in non-profit arts organizations including ArtWeek Boston and the Agassiz Baldwin Community in Cambridge. She was also the assistant director of the Bishop Elementary School's musical theater program in Arlington, Mass., managing productions and communications for more than 200 students and their parents. She is active in local Boston-area theater, acting and directing in her spare time. She has a bachelor's degree from Sarah Lawrence College, and a master's degree in Community Arts from Lesley.
Georgia SparlingCommunications Specialist
Georgia Sparling came to Lesley University in 2017 from Southern Massachusetts, where she spent five years as a reporter and, later, the editor of the online and print newspaper Sippican Week. Before moving to the Northeast, she spent six years in China, where she worked to build and support the country's grassroots nonprofits. She also has experience as the creator, editor and photographer of The Misc. Magazine, a small independent magazine. She is an alumna of Brown University.
