Educating for Social Impact

We're a liberal arts school grounded in the human services professions.

Founded in 1909 to educate teachers, we've long been known as a university leader for education. Today, undergraduate students come to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to seek inventive answers to human problems. We educate the people—the teachers, counselors, therapists, social workers, artists, scientists, policymakers, writers, and business leaders—who change lives and affect social change.

We’re lucky to call Cambridge, Massachusetts home. It’s one of the most dynamic environments for students in the nation. In between and all around us is the Cambridge and Boston area—a vibrant hub of internships, professional opportunity, service work, culture, and fun few other cities can match.

Small School, Big Resources

We're a small college in a rich university environment.

Our faculty and staff are devoted to helping you develop your voice and self-understanding—the key to students making a difference in the world.

You can forge your own program combinations. Being in a university environment with two graduate schools, you’ll have opportunities to move easily into graduate programs.

About Lesley

We prepare students to strengthen communities and bring about justice through programs in education, counseling, the arts, and the helping professions.

Each year, 2,000 undergraduate students and 4,500 graduate students pursue degrees on campus, off-site, and online. They join our 90,000 alumni who are making an impact as mental health counselors, teachers, art therapists, writers, business leaders, social workers, visual artists, and more.

Child Homelessness Initiative

We wanted to do something about child homelessness. To raise awareness and to prepare our undergraduate students who are planning to work with children and families.

Our Child Homelessness Initiative provides undergraduate students with the tools to support young homeless citizens. Because the next generation of childcare providers, teachers, counselors, and advocates will need specific knowledge and skills to work with our nation’s most vulnerable children.
