For experienced educators, the program offers an interdisciplinary approach to professional practice. Gain more in-depth knowledge of instructional methodology, academic content areas, and curriculum development, while considering the role of the human services professional. Courses and seminars cover adult learning and development, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and curriculum and assessment issues.
Participants explore the standards-based reform movement with particular emphasis on teachers’ emerging roles as curriculum developers. Building on prior coursework and their own practice, participants apply and critique a process for planning curriculum and assessment designed to support students in diverse classrooms to gain a deeper understanding of important concepts and skills.
