Training and development certificate program
Develop expertise in...
Trainers in the workplace have the ability to make a major impact on workforce productivity. With fresh and innovative approaches, they design, develop and change the way adults learn and work. But trainers face infinite challenges in today's continuously changing workplace. They must adapt to learning variations, organizational growth and change, the multiplicity of technological advances, and a range of managerial methods. They must maintain up-to-date learning skills that can be useful in a variety of situations and functions. Lesley University's Training and Development Certificate meets the needs of those who understand the critical role that learning and human resources development play in the success of any organization. Lesley's program offers a cross training approach, exposing students to an array of methods and skills that can be used in a variety of positions within an organization. This 15-credit graduate program is designed to be completed in approximately 14 months. Classes will be held on a weeknight from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and will begin when a cohort is formed. Students will progress through the same sequence of courses for the entire length of the program. The cohort allows students to share their professional experiences and challenges, collaborate on assignments and projects, and develop personal and professional ties and interests. A maximum of 15 credit hours from the Training and Development Certificate Program may be transferred and applied towards specific masters' degrees at Lesley University (Independent Study Degree Program or Interdisciplinary Studies Program), if it is recommended by the student's faculty advisor and school dean or designee, and approved by the Registrar. For more information on the masters' degree programs, please visit http://www.lesley.edu/gsass.html. Program Design Curriculum content is based upon competency studies conducted by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) as well as upon input provided by leading professionals. A variety of instructional techniques are used in the program. Lectures are combined with class discussions, small group exercises, simulations, and case studies. Individual assignments are targeted toward the competency development of the learner and relate directly to the learner's current work situation. Questions?
