Nonprofit Leadership Series Workshop

This seminar is designed for managers, executive directors, and board members of nonprofit organizations, as well as people considering making a career change to the nonprofit sector. Its goals are to enable participants to become more effective leaders of nonprofit organizations, to provide a forum in which they can share ideas and gain practical suggestions for strengthening their organizations, and to create an environment in which they can get to know leaders of other nonprofit organizations. Meeting topics include: leadership and ethical gatekeeping; developing board members and volunteers; strategic planning as a key to success; increasing the impact of marketing. The primary learning components are interactive discussions related to specific issues and problems faced by a participant’s organization, presentations and practical guidance by experienced faculty practitioners, and readings.

Join this highly acclaimed, comprehensive career development course, which provides structure and support for individuals considering or involved in a career transition. Learn selfassessment, exploration, and decision-making skills that will assist you in moving forward in your career planning or career change process. This experiential and interactive course provides a forum for participants to develop a vision of themselves in the world of work. Topics include examining skills, values, interests, and preferences (including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator). You will clarify career interests, explore career possibilities, and develop career-related objectives in connection with others through this stimulating, fun, and encouraging course.

Career Decision Making Workshop: Obstacles and Strategies

Are you facing decisions about changing careers, job choices, or other work/career issues? Are you feeling stuck about how to decide? Are you searching for decision making strategies that are right for you? Decision making is at the heart of career planning, and is typically a difficult process. This experiential and interactive workshop will help you understand your own decision-making style, common obstacles and how to compensate for them, and how to choose among both rational and creative strategies for decision making. We’ll review decision making models, supportive ideas and approaches, and strategies to increase one’s ability to enact sound career decisions.

Start Your Business Workshop

TUITION: Non-credit, $100
You have an idea that will bring your special talents to the marketplace. How do you begin to develop it? This workshop will lead you to the threshold of a formal business plan. Learn to ask the right questions and seek out relevant information to help distinguish between an idea and an opportunity. Understand how to clarify your concept, describe your product, identify your target market, weigh potential customer demand, and recognize the business environment you’re entering. Identify potential marketing strategies, and methods to keep your customer pipeline filled. In the final session we’ll estimate start up costs, weigh financing options, consider legal implications, and consider exit strategies.
