Payment methods include cash, check, or credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa with name on card and expiration date). Credit cards are the only acceptable form of payment for faxed and phone-in registrations. Checks should be made payable to Lesley University. Students who do not submit full payment may not be allowed to enroll.

Registration Process

  • Registrations are considered on a first-come, first-served basis, unless the Seminar has a specific prerequisite noted, and instructions.
  • If a Seminar is oversubscribed, a waiting list is established, and applicants are notified by telephone as soon as space becomes available.
  • The Division of Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel under-enrolled Seminars. Students are notified of cancellations as early as possible so that they can register for other Seminars.
  • Students will not receive formal confirmation of their registration. They will, however, be notified if a class is cancelled.

Dropping A Seminar/Tuition Refunds

Full tuition and all fees are refunded if:

  • an applicant is not admitted to a Seminar.
  • a Seminar is canceled prior to the start of classes.

Students must notify the Continuing Education office by phone or in-person prior to the 2nd class meeting in order to receive a full refund of tuition; before the start of the 3rd class-50%; before the start of the 4th class-25%; after the start of the 4th class-0%. The registration fee of $30 is nonrefundable.

Financial Assistance

Lesley Seminars financial assistance funds are limited. It is not possible, therefore, to honor all requests. Priority is given to applicants with a demonstrated financial need, and a willingness to make a serious commitment to a class. The Division of Continuing Education will review all requests, and students will be notified of the decision by phone or in writing.

  • All requests for financial assistance are confidential.
  • The amount of financial assistance will not exceed half of the tuition of a class.
  • If a student receives financial assistance and subsequently transfers into a lower tuition class, the financial assistance award will be reduced accordingly so that the aid reflects the same percentage of tuition as the original financial assistance amount.
  • Scholarships may be considered taxable by the Internal Revenue Service.  Refer to the IRS Publication 520, "Scholarships and Fellowships" or a tax advisor to determine how this affects individual situations.

To apply for financial assistance the following must be submitted:

  1. Lesley Seminars Registration Form;
  2. One-half tuition of the class and the non-refundable registration fee of $30 (no fee if registering for workshop);
  3. Financial Assistance Form;
  4. One page letter describing reasons for requesting assistance;
  5. Some evidence of need (e.g., tax return, work pay stub, other).

Tuition Policy for Lesley Students

Lesley students wishing to take Lesley Seminar courses for credit must contact their faculty advisor and secure approval to register. Students pay their regular tuition rate.

Individuals interested in pursuing self-designed bachelor's or master's degree programs that build upon Lesley Seminar offerings should contact:

Tuition Policy for Lesley Staff

Full and part-time employees are eligible to receive tuition remission for courses and workshops offered through the Division of Continuing Education. While the University offers these courses for credit and non-credit, they will count toward the applicable credit limit. In the case where credit is optional, the employee will be required to take the course for credit and this credit will count toward the maximum credit limit. In the case that the course offers no credit, a course of one day or less will count as .5 credit and a course of two days or more will count as 1 credit. Spouses and dependents are not eligible for tuition remission benefits for non-degree programs.
Refer to the Human Resources Web site for the complete policy.

Credit Option

Lesley University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Taking a course for credit earns students who fulfill the necessary course requirements assigned by the instructor, Lesley University credit. Students who want to transfer Lesley University credits to another college or university should check with their home institutions before registering. Credits are accepted at the discretion of the receiving institution.

Alumni Discount

University and Art Institute of Boston alumni are entitled to a 10% reduction in tuition for any on-campus Seminar that has a full tuition rate. The alumni discount is only applicable when the Alumni Discount Request form is submitted each semester or by permission of Student Financial Services. Students who graduated from 1989 forward do not need to complete this form as they are already coded as alumni on the University computer system, but should indicate on their registration their Lesley University dates of attendance and program of study.
