Panel Discussion - Degas and the Nude: Three Views
Friday, December 2, 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Degas as painter, draughtsman and printmaker made the human figure central to his artistic explorations. What can we as artists and viewers today learn about the representation of the body and sexual dynamics, as well as about the nature of creative obsession from his life long investigation? In this panel two painters and an art historian will offer their personal responses to the major exhibition "Degas and the Nude," now on view at the Museum of Fine Arts.

The Sum of All Colors [group show]
Through a variety of photographic approaches, Jessica Eaton, Matthew Gamber and Bill Sullivan are experimenting with how the medium of photography can illustrate our perception of color.  The photographs from Matthew Gamber's series, Any Color You Like, are an experiment in how photography can confuse our perception of information.  These photographs represent objects whose primary function is either to describe or draw our attention to color. When these items are rendered in a traditional black and white format they become abstractions of their previous form.

Irina Rozovsky
This Russia
In the summer of 2008, Irina returned to Russia for the first time since she and her family left exactly twenty years before. To Irina, Moscow was wrapped in a haze that rose like a mirage. These photographs describe a place both real and imagined by years of absence and the disorientation of being a stranger in a familiar land.  These images look for what has been left behind and disconnected—This Russia—its crumbling buildings, searching faces—its fairytale drenched in redeeming, yellow light, nostalgia tinged with harsh reality.
