Students attending 2008 Young Artist Residency are required to live on campus. The Lesley University campus is located in urban Cambridge, Massachusetts, close to Harvard Square. The residence halls, located in the campus courtyard area, are convenient to classrooms, library, local shops and restaurants. Summer session housing is set in traditional style college residence halls with community bathrooms, living room, kitchenette for limited cooking, coin-operated laundry, vending machines, and pay telephones. Lesley University residence halls are staffed with an on-duty, live-in summer resident assistant (RA). In addition, the dormitory where AIB pre-college students live will be staffed with live-in AIB mentors who will be coordinating meals and activities. The residence halls are not air-conditioned. The Security Office is centrally located. The Art Institute of Boston studios are located across the Charles River in Boston. Transportation to and form studio classes will be provided by a college van. Driving time is approximately twenty minutes.

Please bring your own linens for a twin bed and your own towels. LU will provide pillow and blanket. Please bring personal items, clothes, reading material, personal music, telephone cards for the university pay phones, snacks, cell phone, alarm clock, back pack or book bag, padlock for lockers at AIB, etc. There are many shops close by in Harvard Square. The Art Institute of Boston will provide art supplies for all of your studio classes.
Travel costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the applicant and his/her parents. Flights to Boston Logan airport are closest to the university, however, students may also travel to Providence, RI or Manchester, NH. Public transportation is available from Boston Logan airport to Harvard Square, which is less than one mile from Lesley University.
The residency program cost for 2008 is $3830. The fee includes application fee, registration fee, tuition, housing (double ocupancy), activities, 3 meals per day, art supplies required for course work, and the University transportation costs. Upon completion, students will be issued a Certificate of Completion as long as activity attendance has been satisfied. Upon receipt of passing grades, students will receive 6 college credits for the program.
The application fee of $50 is required at the time of application and is non-refundable. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the program is full. Enrollment in the residency program is limited.
Payment for the YAR Program must be paid in full by June 15, 2008.
Refunds will not be issued to students who are asked to leave the program for violations of school policies or regulations. Students who withdraw for any other reason must do so in writing. Withdrawls may be faxed to (617) 585-6721 and must include the student's name and date. The application fee is non-refundable. Refunds are made according to the following schedule:
100% refund prior to June 11, 2008
50% refund prior to July 4, 2008
No refund after July 6, 2008
Attendance and punctuality are mandatory for all courses, activities and transportation. Your student mentor and/or AIB staff will supervise all activities. A curfew is in place for residents. A zero tolerance policy is in place for breaking the rules. A copy of the handbook will be provided to you once you are accepted to the program.
