Local Resources and Opportunities for Teens

The Urbano Project

URBANO empowers urban teens and professional artists to effect social change through visionary works of art and performance.

The City of Boston

Boston Youth Zone connects teens throughout the Boston area, providing resources for sports, activities, employment, homework help, and more. Apply to the Boston Neighborhood Network In-Focus Youth Media After School Program [pdf] for hands-on training in digital video and studio television production using the latest, state-of-the-art equipment.

The Cloud Foundation

The Cloud Foundation's Teen Curatorial Program [doc] gives teens a rare opportunity to work with professional artists while designing and promoting exhibitions, spoken word events, and film screenings—including YouthFusion, which features over 200 teen artists. In addition to offering resident programs and workshops, the Cloud Foundation sponsors International Exchanges for teens between Boston and Paris.

The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA)

During ICA Teen Nights, teens run the show, hosting everything from dance parties and artist talks to collaborative projects and workshops. If you're passionate about the arts and curious about the museum world, go behind-the-scenes by joining the Teen Arts Council. The ICA also offers innovative art instruction for high school students ages 14-18; for qualified students, the Fast Forward digital media program is offered free of charge. What's more: admission to the ICA is always free for those 17 and younger.
