Personal Statement for M.Ed. in Effective Teaching Programs
Your written personal statement should be 600 - 900 words in length. Please use narrative form and address the following questions:
- In this program, you will examine your practices from fresh perspectives. Have you begun to – or are you ready to - think deeply about the complexities of teaching and learning within a supportive online community of educators? Please explain.
- In this program you will be asked at certain points to video record your instruction and classroom interactions and then analyze these clips, sometimes online with classmates. Have you had opportunities to engage in this type of reflective practice? If so, what have you learned from video recording your practices? If you haven’t yet had an opportunity to record and analyze your teaching, can you envision ways in which doing so might enhance your teaching?
- In this practitioner-based program, you will have opportunities to apply the most current research in your teaching and experiment with exciting new technologies that will support assessment, teaching and learning. Technology will be introduced slowly and purposefully, and support will be readily available if needed. How would you describe your current comfort level with technology? Are there any technology tools that you’d like to know more about?
