Applicants to All Massachusetts Initial Licensure Programs
As part of the admissions process, all applicants seeking a Massachusetts Initial License must submit evidence of having taken the Communication & Literacy MTEL.
Please submit a score report that shows evidence of having completed both the Reading and Writing sub-tests of the Communication & Literacy MTEL. Passing scores are not required in order to be considered for admission.
Applicants to Middle School Education and High School Education Initial Licensure Programs Only
In addition, applicants to Middle School and High School Education Programs must have completed a college's or university's major requirements in the discipline associated with the program to which they are applying, or have successfully passed the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) in the corresponding content area.
